Parco Campo dei Fiori Varese

The Parco Naturale Regionale Campo dei Fiori is located a few kilometers north of Varese. Established in 1984 and extended in 2009, it covers 6,300 hectares within 17 towns and 2 Italian Mountain Communities in the Province of Varese.

It occupies the hill country of Varese and the Po Valley and within its borders there are the Valcuvia to the north-west, Valganna to the east and the city of Varese to the south. It includes two important mountains, Campo dei Fiori and Martica, which are divided by the Valley of the Rasa, where the river Olona originates. Its unique geographical location and its geological features have supported a rich variety of vegetation ranging from forest of chestnut and beech trees to flowers growing on rocks and wetlands, where many animals live. Worth mentioning are its historic-architectural landmarks, such as the Sacro Monte complex (a UNESCO World Heritage site), the Grande Albergo, the Liberty villas, the Badia di Ganna and the Rocca di Orino.
